The polling day 06 May 2006

Yesterday has been an exciting moment of my life. It's Singapore polling day!!! And for the first time, I have a choice and I get to vote.

Like everyone else, I didn't really know how I should dress up for the occasion or wear as per normal. And also should I queue up the day before the sun rise (just like the typical fans queueing up for their tickets just to see their favourite idol), or should I purposely come in late, so that I can look good on TV... guess I didn't find that guts to do that and somebody actually did that on purpose!!! Of course they finally got themselves in the pictures... EXHILIARATINGLY FANTASTIC!!

The most exciting part is when the voting results is out... At first I thought that the votes for the opposition party would come stronger than the last time.... and it turns out that though it may be quite true, Singaporeans that hold the right to vote decided to choose the safer and more secure route. Well perhaps many locals hold high confidence in the government.

Then again, there are some Singaporeans who are just indifferent to the local politics and they are just too busy with themselves, their work and their family for some.... they just didn't have the time to think too much and so they take the easy way out.

The worrisome thing is that not many Singaporeans is interested enough to attend the rally. I am of course one of them. On the first polling rally evening, I saw many people busy running their errands at the neighbourhood shopping centers. It was so crowded I wondered if they are indifferent or perhaps too busy at shopping centers to attend. For me, I could not care less... perhaps in my mind, I already know who the big winner is going to be.

Well, anyway, all the excitement has come to an end and I anticipate the next polling day five years down the road..... Maybe next time I might be interested enough to attend the rally.
